This project was created with the support of a Carclew Youth Arts Project and Development Grant.
Claire is a children's book illustrator based in Adelaide. She has illustrated a dozen picture books for publishers including Omnibus Books and Windy Hollow Books.
This project is very low budget and handmade. Claire started making zines and little comics when she was a teenager and continued playing with cartoons and staplers while studying Visual Art and Design.
To gain inspiration and focus on writing Claire house sat in Melbourne for a week, writing and riding around and realised very quickly she had little in common with the character Bernie. To finish the book and other projects she went on a Creative Time Fellowship to Canberra, thanks to the May Gibbs Children's Literature Trust.
